Water-Gen Ltd Generates Potable Water from Air to Help Areas with Poor Water Supply
Arye Kohavi founded the company, a member of the Israel Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ICCP), in 2009. Kohavi was serving the Israeli Defence Forces at that time as a Combat Reconnaissance Company commander. He developed a machine that produced potable water inside conflict zones, utilizing air-to-water technology. He, then, sold this system to military consumers.
Electricity powers the air-to-water machines and the units can be used in any place with a minimum temperature of 70°C and a relative humidity of 30%. They provide safe, clean and cool drinkable water anywhere it is needed.
Humanitarian Efforts
Today, it has become the company’s mission to help improve the lives of people in places with inadequate or unsanitary water supply. It collaborates with military disaster-relief units and NGOs in supplying clean, potable water during emergencies and in areas where water is limited or unsafe to drink. Water-Gen had been most helpful during Hurricanes Irma and Harvey in the United States in 2017, assisting in relief efforts. It also ran a month-long program in New Delhi, India, supplying free water to 2,000 people a day.
The company plans eventually to build solar-powered water farms that will be more affordable and practical for communities in remote areas than current water management systems. It is looking at joint ventures in India, North America, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, CIS countries, China, and several countries in Africa.
